Summary of Minutes - Wednesday 7th May 2008

Councillor Marriage was elected as Chairman.

Councillor Gallagher was elected as Vice Chairman.

Two new Councillors were welcomed and co-opted onto the Parish Council, Councillor Moxey and Councillor Hawkes. All current standing Councillors wished to restand for this year. All changes to the Parish Council were agreed and adopted.

Public Open Forum

It was reported that Eaton Bray Parish is within the area category for possible closure of a Post Office. Confirmation of which Post Offices to be closed will be announced on the 8th July 2008 at which point there will be a six week consultation period for responses from those affected. It was pointed out that any responses received after that six week period will not be accepted. It was agreed to bring this issue forward to the next Parish Council meeting in June 2008. The Parish Council were thanked by residents of Wallace Drive for the filling-in of pot holes in the road. The Village Hall committee wished to thank the Parish Council for all their help in the improvements of the village hall.

Policing for Eaton Bray Parish

It was agreed to look into additional policing for the parish.

Mill End Close - Conservation Area/Ransome Strip

The Parish Council agreed to look into these areas in more detail.

Village Sign Post

The Parish Council agreed to the siting of the new village signpost and to obtain quotes for the work to be done.

Cemetery

The Parish Council confirmed that the new section in the Cemetery is now in use and are looking at improvements for tidying up the original section.

Accounts for Year Ending 31st March 2008

The Clerk distributed details of the accounts for the Annual Return. It was agreed to approve the return, the Chairman signed on behalf of the Parish Council.

Clerk

The Clerk brought to the Council’s attention the damaged bridge at Holmans field and it was agreed to obtain quotes to get this mended.

Visit from Andrew Selous MP

A reminder to all electors that Andrew Selous MP will be holding a surgery in Eaton Bray Parish on Friday, 18th July 2008 from 11:30am-12Noon at The Coffee Tavern.

Monday 2nd June 2008, 7.30pm, in the Coffee Tavern.
