Summary of Minutes - Monday 7th November 2005

Chairman's Comments

A letter has been received from a local family who had placed a memorial bench at the School Lane Recreation Ground. Sadly this has had to be removed due to mindless acts of vandalism. It will now be placed in the School ground.

The master plan for London Luton Airport has been received.

A reply from the Driving Standards Agency was read out re varying their route through the Village. They will ask the examiners to avoid Eaton Bray where possible.

War Memorial

The War Memorial has been pressure washed leaving it in pristine condition for Remembrance Day. The memorial bed had also been replanted.

Finance

The budgets for 2006/7 and 2007/8 have been completed with a 2007/8 forecast.

It was decided by a unanimous vote to keep the precept at £45,000 with a prediction for the same in 2007/8. It was noted that this is a miniscule part of the average Council Tax payer's bill.

Childrens Play Areas

Inspections are to be carried out by ROSPA on the Rye and School Lane play equipment in line with current safety regulations. It was also agreed that this will be done annually from now on.

Eaton Bray Lower School

The School have requested that their newly formed School Council meets with the Parish Councillors. Mutually convenient times are to be arranged.

Planning

Several Planning Applications have been considered and comments sent to SBDC.

A County and SBDC Structure plan is to be requested.

Next Council Meeting

Monday 5th December 2005, 7.30pm, in the Coffee Tavern.
