Summary of Minutes - Monday 5th December 2005

Chairman's Comments

The Mobile Library has changed times to every second Friday from 1.45 to 3.45 pm

The Poppy Appeal raised £1,561.45

The ROSPA Playground Inspection has been completed. GP Committee to study findings and report on work needed.

Public Meets the PC was very successful with 12 Parishioners attending.

Main areas of concern were speeding, youth nuisance and overhanging bushes on the footpaths. There were also many constructive comments on making the Village more attractive, these will be discussed at the January meeting.

Letter received from the PCC thanking the Councillors for clearing the War Memorial area ready for Remembrance Day.

Highways Watchman In Chief

Graeme Symonds attended to report on the new Highways contract. He informed the Council that contract performance would be closely monitored, and that a 24 hour hotline for fault reporting was now in operation.

An annual Parish Survey will take place with area teams. He is also looking to attract financial support from Central Government.

Booth Place Planning Application

Several Residents attended the meeting to voice extreme concern about a planning application for a detached cottage to the rear of the Salvation Army building.

Points raised were as follows:

  • Loss of parking spaces which would cause more obstruction to the High Street.
  • Loss of privacy
  • Conservation Area
  • Building not in keeping with others
  • A right of way affected
  • Trees affected
  • Dispute on land ownership
  • The Application has false statements.

All these concerns will be forwarded to SBDC
