Summary of Minutes - Monday 3rd November 2008

Parish Council Condolences

Eaton Bray Parish Council would like to express their deepest sympathy to family and friends of Edlesborough Parish Councillor, Mr Phil Conacher (Northall Ward) who recently passed away. Our thoughts are with you.

Car Parking

The Parish Council would like to ask all parishioners to please park sensibly within the parish, taking care not to park on the pavements as this causes problems and distress to pedestrians; those with buggies/young children, disabled and the elderly, who find they have to walk on the road when unable to walk on the pavement due to cars improperly parked.

Policing Within The Parish

The Parish Council raised their concerns with PC Viv Dady on the lack of police presence within the parish and concerns raised to the Parish Council from local residents. The Parish Council were not happy with how incidents being reported to the police are not acted upon and the little feedback to relevant parties. The Parish Council felt that a letter should be sent to the Chair of the Police Authority, raising their concerns. The Parish Council are continuing to look into the options of bringing in additional policing within the parish.

PC Viv Dady wanted to remind all residents the importance of reporting any incidents they see occurring in the parish, however minor, direct to the local police and obtain a URN number.

Treat For Troops/Shoe Box Parcels

Further to enquiries to the Parish Council regarding recent reports on sending treats to troops, the Parish Council would like to confirm that all parcels are sent through the Royal Air Force Association to named persons. The list of names, held by the RAFA, are of a number of personnel who act as receivers for the boxes. The RAFA address the boxes and forwards them to the receivers who distribute the parcels among the troops. PLEASE KEEP HANDING YOUR SHOE BOX PARCELS IN, some have already arrived and the thank you letters are coming back!

Eaton Bray Parish Housing Needs

The Parish Council would like to get residents views on the housing needs within the parish and have therefore put together a questionnaire which they would like parishioners to complete and return to the Parish Clerk with their views.

Clerk Report

The Clerk informed the Parish Council of the additional costs to be incurred for the weekly emptying of the proposed five new dog bins within the parish. It was agreed that the Clerk organise the ordering of the additional dog bins and to agree to the payment of the additional costs to South Beds District Council.

Next Council Meeting

Monday 1st December 2008, 7.30pm, in the Coffee Tavern.

The Clerk requests items for the next Agenda by Wednesday 19th November 2008.
