EB Lions U9 Blues - 4
Sundon Park Rangers U9 Blues - 0

Eaton Bray Lions AFCAfter a nervy start Lions settled down with a brace of goals from Myles Frederick and began to establish their habitual tone.

Sundon found range from their goal kicks though and maintained a threat, providing full backs James Glover, Joe Thorne and Sam Bramston with a stern test. Lions struck again before the break, Bill Moynes feeding through for Joe Rabey to complete.

Keeper Cameron Burchill was kept busy in the second as Rangers found their momentum, but sustained pressure from Ollie West in midfield and Toby McGee in front of goal gave the visitors scant margin for error, and the hosts picked up a fourth as Sam Carter found the end of Joe Rabey's corner, tapping in ahead of the final whistle.

The win puts Lions three points clear at the top of the league table.

Cricket: Friendly bray Win Again

This article was published in March 2010. Please see Latest News for more recent information.

CricketBunker FM hit a quickfire 40 and then begged his captain to let him have a bowl. This was not possible due to the Bray only getting 180, thanks also to a Boycott-esque innings from Steve Davis.

Career best performances from Joe Roff (3 wickets) and Ronald Weasley (5 wickets) ensured a comfortable victory for the Bray.

1st team skipper Paul Harris was also playing after booking his wife on a long distance flight, driving her to the airport, checking her in, escorting her to the departure lounge and personally closing the cabin door! He may be regretting these actions after being forced to bowl 8 overs into the wind but somehow i doubt it...

Cricket: Bray overwhelmed

This article was published in March 2010. Please see Latest News for more recent information.

CricketIf Chelsea were playing Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup, the result would have been closer than this 1 sided encounter. A conference fixture, both sides were described as 'medium' strength, the Bray were therefore happy to learn that we were not playing against anyone 'strong.' Gunning shot us down with 157 not out, out of 322 for 3 (a record against the Bray) and the only positive that came out of the game was determined batting by Cottrell to ensure the Bray were not bowled out. If we ever play them again, we will have to remember to bring more balls.

Cricket: Bray win a close encounter

This article was published in March 2010. Please see Latest News for more recent information.

CricketAn exciting game which saw acting skipper Andy Clarkie hit 4 6's in an over, ensuring that he reached the 50 milestone yet again this season. Useful contributions from Aaron Cottrell and Lester Piggott ensured that the Bray jockeyed to a decent but not unachievable total.

An interesting opening spell from Steve Davis supported by Ossie Osborne (certainly an unlikely opening partnership) helped put the Bray on top. However, wayward bowling from Messrs. Scholes, Jones and Bunks FM seemed to turn the initiative back to Bourne End.

However the opening partnership returned to steady the ship, with Ossie picking up the final wicket in his last over.

Stonewall Spinks was on the field of play but had a day to forget. After getting very little sleep, getting out for a golden duck and failing to stop a ball all day, he was seen texting his girlfriend during the drinks break. This has caused him to be fined an unprecedented amount by his skipper, and caused him to be suspended.

St Martin's U9 Whites - 0
EB Lions U9 Blues - 5

Eaton Bray Lions AFCLions went three points clear at the top with a comfortable win over St Martin's, bolstering their title hopes.

A Joe Rabey hat trick, and goals from Sam Carter and Ollie West, sealed a dominant victory over a determined host side. St Martin's were not without threat for the opening ten minutes but a flawless Cameron Burchell safely fielded the early attempts on goal, while stout defending from Joe Thorne and tireless MoM James Glover effectively staved off further attacks.

Lions were three up by half time and in the second began to build on their momentum to control possession for the final twenty minutes. A well placed lob from Toby McGee landed at the feet of Joe, who finished in clinical style, while searing work in midfield by Sam Bramston opened up more chances on goal, allowing Lions to extend their lead and compound a vital win.

Lewsey Centre U12 - 6
EB Lions U12 - 0

Lions gave a worthy account of themselves against league champions Lewsey Centre, but were unable to capitalise on a string of goal attempts.

Gutsy forward plays by Sean Woodhouse and James Hurley kept a talented home defence on red alert for the full 60 minutes, and stylish passing between Tom Horner, Aaron Gauntlett, Adam Bradley and deserving MOM Alex Poynter kept Lions in the game despite the one sided scoreline.

Lewsey attacked in waves during the second but in between offensive strikes there was good work by the visitors, Aarin Johnson and Ben Roberts feeding through to James and Sean who almost opened Lions' goal account on a handful of occasions.

Dominic Ryan and Chris McGee maintained a stalwart defence in the dying minutes but it was stand in keeper Jake Draper who drew plaudits from supporters on both sides, putting in a string of stunning saves.

Sacred Heart U9 - 0
EB Lions U9 Blues - 4

Eaton Bray Lions AFCLions regained top spot with an emphatic win over previous league leaders Sacred Heart in Saturday's pivotal away fixture.

After a tense start that saw keeper Cameron Burchell well tested, Toby McGee netted from the edge of the box to hand Lions a vital early lead. A resurgent Sacred Heart pushed back but solid tackling from James Glover and Joe Thorne gave the hosts scant openings, and midfield domination by 011ie West and Sam Bramston turned the tide in favour of the visiting side.

Lions capitalised as Joe Rabey blazed in from the right wing, finding the top corner of the net, and Sam Carter tapped in a deft cross to extend the lead ahead of the break.

The frantic pace took its toll in the second, Lions easing off until a searing strike from Myles Frederick, run into the goalmouth by Joe, added a fourth to the tally and compounded a decisive win.

EB Lions U12 - 2
Bedford Park Rangers U12 - 2

Eaton Bray Lions AFCLions made a bright start in a closely contested battle, Sean Woodhouse breaking loose to volley in early for a goal that was ruled off side. Stand in keeper Jake Draper made short work of Bedford's subsequent counters but they were able to net after a smart run on goal.

Lions hit back immediately with another Sean Woodhouse strike, and clever defending by Chris McGee, Ben Roberts and Mason Ashby halted Bedford's key chances. Good link ups in midfield by Alex Poynter, Charlie Nevitt and Adam Bradley saw Lions retain possession for the majority of the half until a Dominic Ryan free kick almost secured the lead.

Going into the second one a piece, Lions eked out every chance, Will Juster and James Hurley putting in regular goal charges. A deft lob from Sean defeated the Bedford keeper for the lead but despite promising through balls from Tom Horner and Aaron Johnson and enterprising runs from Aaron Gauntlett, the visitors drew level in the dying minutes of play.
