Riverbank at Waterside/Mill End Close
From: Bedford Group of Internal Drainage Boards (IDB)
Re: Riverbank at Waterside/Mill End Close
After considering various options for repairing the riverbank at Waterside the best appear to be:
- Pile along the whole riverbank with light weight steel piles, backfill behind the piles with soil, re-profile and seed. Excavate island to fill voids and reinstate island.
- Excavate a trench through the island, remove the clay core that was placed previously. Line the trench with a geotextile and fill with bentonite. This material has better erosion resistance than clay. Pile along weak points of riverbank to provided extra protection. Reprofile and reinstate riverbank.
On completion of the main work the channel will be dredged with the material levelled on the island. When dry, the island would be reinstated to grass.
In August/September the site was visited by IDB with the contractors to discuss the project and are awaiting estimated costs, before a decision is made on how to proceed.
During site visits with the contractors, further leaks have appeared on the south side of Waterside next to the concrete overspill weir. This section will be added to the cost estimates for repairs.

Litter Pick Day - Saturday 26th October 2019
Eaton Bray Parish Needs You!
Do you want to take action against litter? The huge strides we need, to create the clean areas; parks, roads etc..., picking up a single piece of litter could be your first step.
Eaton Bray Village - Litter Pick, Saturday 26th October 2019
On 16th Mach this year we had a litter pick in the village. A big thank you to the 19 valiant people who braved the strong wing and threat of rain to venture out and collect litter from our roads. The group collected 45 bags of rubbish and a significant amount of other rubbish that was too big to bag including tyres, old road signs, a gas container, plastic facia board and an old television set. Following this success we are planning another litter pick on Saturday 26th October. We only managed to cover a small section of the village roads in March so it would be great to have more people helping. We will meet in the car park on School Lane at 10am.
Please wear strong shoes. We will provide litter grabbers, gloves and Hi-Viz jackets but please bring your own if you have them.
And for you youngsters out there if you can't join us on 26th October how about accepting the trash-tag-challenge https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/content/trash-tag-challenge-plastic-waste/

Neighbourhood Development Plan - September 2018
The Consultation finished in June and I would like to thank everybody who attended the two village meetings and those who commented upon our Draft Neighbourhood Plan. The majority of comments supported our Policies and CBC made several helpful suggestions.
All responses to the consultation have been recorded and passed to our planning consultant who prepared a summary / analysis and proposals for changes to our Neighbourhood Plan Policies (these are the 14 Policies in our Pre Submission Plan).
We are currently summarizing our activities over the past 3 years and writing a Consultation Statement whilst our Planning expert is making amendments to Policies as needed. The next stages are:-
- Agree changes within the Steering Group
- Seek agreement from Eaton Bray Parish Council
- Submit the final documents to CBC who must approve our Plan before proceeding
- CBC appoint an independent Government Inspector to review our Plan
- If approved there will be a referendum. Each parishioner registered to vote on the electoral register will be given the opportunity to vote Yes or No in a referendum to be held later in the year or early in 2019.
We hope that you found this update useful, this and other documents are posted on the Parish web site www.ebpc.co.uk - follow the link to Neighbourhood Plan.
Please send comments to the Parish Clerk at www.ebpc.co.uk
Thank you.
