Central BedfordshireReason for proposal: The proposed Order is considered necessary on the grounds of promoting road safety and improving the environment of the area. November 11, 2014, Eaton Bray Parish Council says:

PLEASE NOTE: the roads being proposed for the weight restriction are ONLY those leading to/affecting Totternhoe. The roads BEING RECOMMENDED for the re-route of HGV's over 7.5 tonnes ARE THROUGH Eaton Bray, to include the High Street, Bower Lane & Harling Road (potentially these HGVs will also use Edlesborough).

November 24, 2014, Lisa Davis says:

Any changes must ensure that HGV traffic is not redirected through the villages, particularly near the schools. Additional proposed housing and that already being constructed is already going to increase the traffic through these villages. It cannot all be directed along the same roads and highways.

November 24, 2014, laura janes says:

it is amazing how this has been kept quiet not even in the local parish magazine !!! not happy that we were kept in the dark and so were unaware to be able to oppose this, will traffic calming measures be put in place to stop them speeding , my disabled daughter walks across the road, she can be slow at the best of times so this is going to put her at risk , more independance we will have to take away

December 9, 2014, Tanya Wilson says:

I refer to the comments above and would respond as follows:-

The roads being recommended do not take the HGV lorries through Eaton Bray or Edlesborough. If you think about it, the reason Dunstable Road becoming Castle Hill Road in Totternhoe are used by these lorries is because it is a pretty straight run for them. Eaton Bray and Edlesborough both produce fabulous stop-start problems which would deter these lorries from using your villages. They would have to use the A5 or Leighton Buzzard Road.

We live in Totternhoe and every day is like trying to cross Brand Hatch Starting Grid. What about our elderly folk or mothers with young children who perhaps would like to take a walk in the park but cant because it is far too dangerous for them to cross at any point along our roads.

Can we please work together to address this. We definitely do not want our neighbouring villages to have to bear the re-direction of traffic, if we work together we can re-route them to main roads that they should be using.

May 25, 2015, jean saunders says:

More and more lorries are making shorts cut from the by-pass through Totternhoe to Dunstable and at more then 30mph.I personally think that has become a serious problem.
