Cricket: Eversholt squeeze out the Bray in village cup
Posted on May 17, 2011
In a very competitive game played in a good spirit to the end, home team Eversholt ran out winners by 20 runs despite a powerfully struck 72 by Flecknell. Eversholt batted first and compiled 207ao from 39.5 overs with Litchfield 44 and Ben Nichols 47 providing the majority of the runs. Ellerton took 3-24 and Flecknell 2-29 to help hold the home team down to a chaseable target, however with the Bray 0-1 after 3 overs the chase didn't look promising...enter Flecknell who almost turned the game single handed, he was out (to an excellent return catch by Ben Nichols) with the score at 115-3 from 22 and despite Josh Peacock well crafted 39 and Dave Hopkins 17, the Bray challenge ran out of steam with 30 needed from the last 3 overs.
