Private Stephen Rose 56249 Northumberland Fusiliers

Stephen was born in Chippenham Wiltshire in 1891 to parents James Rose a Hawker born Calne Wiltshire and Emily nee Smith.

Living at home in 1891 and 1901. 1911 sees him as a Domestic Groom and living at a local Post Office.

He Volunteered in 1914 and joined the Army Service Corps as a Corporal 66258. In 1915 he married Agnes Tompkins of Eaton Bray where they had a son also named Stephen. He was transferred to the Northumberland Fusiliers again as a Corporal.

The 12th/13th Battalion fought in many big battles including Arras Ypres Somme Lyes and many more.

Stephen died of wounds on 17th September 1918.
