Private Frederick Lugsden 201140 4th Battalion Essex Regiment

Frederick was born in 1895 in the High Street Eaton Bray being the third born son to David Lugsden an Agricultural Labourer and Sarah Ann nee Rollings a Straw Plaiter.

Frederick after leaving school worked as a Nurseryman Labourer probably at Wallaces.

He volunteered and enlisted in the Bedfordshire Regiment on the 11th November 1914 with number 3/7460 and was sent to France.

In 1916 Frederick was discharged from the army probably due to fitness as he later re-enlisted in the Essex Regiment.

The 4th Battalion were sent to Palestine where on the 27th March 1917 Frederick was killed in action.
