Private John Deeley 18772 Bedfordshire Regiment

Private John DeeleyJohn Deeley was born in 1895 in Lower End Totternhoe to parents William Deeley an Eaton Bray man and a labourer at the lime stone quarry and wife Elizabeth nee Holland from Totternhoe.

He grew up in the Rye in Eaton Bray and followed his father becoming a Hewer at the lime works in Totternhoe.

He volunteered for service in 1914 joining the 2nd Battelion Bedfordshire Regiment seeing action in the first battle of Ypres, Loos and the Somme. John was killed in action on 11th July 1916 at Trones Wood age 19.
