Greenways works

We have just received a hand delivered letter dated 16th March regarding works outside our property (from the map attached it concerns grassed area no 18-22) I have e-mailed the Parish Clerk, knowing that the issue of parking had been raised at the 7th March Parish Council Meeting outlining the works. Upon contacting the writer there is no provision to supply further parking... anyone like to go to join us at the next Parish Council Meeting in April?

#823 jane No 15, 22 March 2011, 11:44

Phoned Highways Helpline who have rang back twice within the hour :)
Not a highways problem / issue as they are not obliged to provide parking spaces, unless other roads impacted.
Latest info from G/L Housing is the work shall be going ahead quoting Health & Safety issues regarding amenities. In fact if wished they could bollard the entire green spaces within Greenways...

Count me in on the 4th, let me know if anything we can do, and I will keep updated ref anything we learn.

#831 jane No 15, 24 March 2011, 08:21

Anne, will be good to have company for the PC Meeting.
Not much else to report I'm afraid:
A reply to my email received from the Highways helpline, basically logging a report with the Highways Area Team that covers Eaton Bray.
As far as I can tell the original letter from G/L Housing was not delivered to all residents of Greenways... so the plan is to make all residents aware by initially hand posting what we know so far.

Hi Jane,
Thanks for your letter we received last night, Just wondered if there is anymore news? I have also sent a letter to Gary Looker with regards to the parking at greenways.

#845 jane No 15, 29 March 2011, 08:56

Greenways Parking Issues is on the Parish Council agenda for Monday 4th April.

#863 jane No 15, 30 March 2011, 13:59

Andrew Selous MP has kindly replied to my letter (but appears to have turned the issue on it's head) and I quote now "understands that following my concerns bollards are now to be erected to prevent vehicles from parking" I shall reply in brief once I have calmed down... soon I hope...

#869 jane No 15, 31 March 2011, 19:22

... I have e-mailed Mr Selous MP in reply to his letter. (which contained a copy of an e-mail from Mr Barry Field, Assistant Parking Manager Central Beds Council)"To put a hard standing in place to allow parking, crossing over the grass and dropped kerb for access to properties, including the lowering of services is cost prohibited"... but individual residents can still apply for a dropped kerb to access properties via the Housing Dept for assessment.

Jane

Can we get together in morning to work out plan of action, then start contacting everyone

#873 jane No 15, 4 April 2011, 21:37

Hi, sounds good to get together. 9am ok for you? Thought we got to have quite a say in the end, and PC sympathetic to our plight (though limited in how they can help) the letter can only help. I have written another letter to hand deliver, e-mailed Councillor Mustoe and Parish Clerk. Someone suggested a Residents Association... but time is of the essence. Anyway see you at ours in morning, jane

#874 Anne no 19, 4 April 2011, 22:16

See you at 9
Anne

#875 Ally, 5 April 2011, 08:34

#878 jane No 15, 5 April 2011, 12:07

Tuesday - We shall be hand-delivering update letter to all residents of Greenways, and to those houses impacted in Totternhoe Road. A petition is also in the pipeline. Attendance requested for those able to attend Full Council Meeting on the 14th at Chicksands 6.30pm. Mr Andrew Selous MP has at present an MP's enquiry (?) in place.

#887 jane No 15, 6 April 2011, 18:30

Petition in circulation, attempted contact no's 3-14 tonight, no further news to report. Been good to chat and seems some of you have great ideas for your letters and plan of action... Please get your letters done to Mr Gary Alderson asap &  Watch this space for any developments... thanks

#895 jane No 15, 8 April 2011, 15:28

Hoping to petition again tonight, if You prefer you can knock and sign at no 15 as I seemed to miss-time yesterday. We still need your letters and ideas / opinions and have heard today that "all works have been suspended until such time as a full consultation has been completed with the residents of Greenways" which means we have gained some extra time to put forward our side of the issues :) thanks

#896 jane No 15, 10 April 2011, 19:17

Hopefully a lot of you shall have seen the Fire Engine attempting to access the road this morning. I know some of you got to chat to them, did anyone take photos? We are hoping they will share their report with us asap. We have also heard from the police who have sent an e-mail with their findings and ideas / input :) If anyone else wishes to put a letter together I have a growing file, just pop it into no 15 please. I have only a few more people to ask to sign the petition so if you've still to do so feel free to knock at ours, thanks for all help, jane

#897 Bernie, 12 April 2011, 10:15

Just seen a kid coming out of the alley by number 4 on a bike.Never seen him before but he went straight into the road. Van had to pull up a bit swift though he wasn't going fast.Don't think either of them saw each other because of parked cars.

#907 jane No 15, 21 April 2011, 10:26

Very little to report, I still have a number of you to catch with the petition, some of you have promised letters so it would be great to collect those in too. We are still awaiting the official outcome from the internal inquiry and where that takes us next. We are gathering as much detail and info as we can behind the scenes, things like the incident above recorded by Bernie may also carry some weight so any more please post here, thanks jane

#914 jane, 13 May 2011, 09:16

Slow progress indeed... a pre-arranged site visit from 2 Housing representatives, a brief guided tour of Greenways, confirmation that bollards are definitely not to be erected. We have assurances that Housing shall work with Highways to see what (if anything) can be done, with a lot of talk involving finances and politics. Apparently a visit from Highways has taken place earlier this week, but no news or contact received.
A neighbour informs us that Polish POW's laid the road - as it is mainly in it's original state we cannot fault the workmanship at least.

#930 jane, 24 June 2011, 08:46

... and so it goes ... we are still awaiting details for a meeting with both Depts and as we shall soon be in Summer Holiday season this could prove a lengthy wait.
