Advice for the public -
Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC)

If residents feel the inside of their property (i.e. not garden, garage or driveway but living space) is at imminent risk of flooding call the Fire and Rescue Service on 999.

If residents ever feel life is at risk call the Fire Service immediately on 999.

If residents are concerned about potential flooding and how to protect property please read the CBC website. This provides advice on who to call, depending on the nature of the flooding and measures to take to protect properties.

Residents can also report flooding or surface water on the roads or fallen trees straight to CBC's Highways team on the Highways Helpdesk telephone number 0300 300 8049.

Local residents and businesses are advised to check with the Environment Agency for the latest flood alerts and warnings.  Residents can do this online www.environment-agency.gov.uk or call the Environment Agency’s 24-hour Floodline on 0845 988 1188 or 0345 988 1188. People using social media can also keep up to date by following @envagencyanglia on Twitter, or using the hashtag:  #floodaware.

Local residents can also check the Highways Agency website for any issues with major roads or listen to the local radio for more local information.  The advice to both drivers and pedestrians is not to attempt to drive or walk through any flood water and to look out for other hazards such as fallen power lines and trees in high winds.

Central Bedfordshire Council maintains a Crisis Management Plan, which can be activated to respond to any emergency. CBC are in regular contact with the various agencies like the Met Office, Environment Agency, Police and others to share information and coordinate any action required.  Whilst the bad weather continues our Emergency Planning and Highways teams are on full alert.

Does this advice from CBC come with any action such as clearing the drainage ditches in the village.

Not sure how often the main drains on the High Street are cleaned out but thay are blocked in and around the village shop.
The grates in the entrance to the Car Park for the park at the top of School Lane have been blocked for over 5 years.
It seems that the responsibility for these is allegedly unknown, Central Beds or the Parish Council!!
