Re: speeding on Bower Lane.

Bower Lane is now just a race track with constant speeding up and down Bower Lane and through the village.  Few motorists take any notice of the 30 mph limit. The speed indicator on the the green hasn’t been working for months and is a total waste of taxpayers money. The police are not interested. The council...not interested.
We have constant horrific speeding vehicles morning, noon and night.  Eaton Bray is a rat run, speeding has become the norm through this village. How are we going to stop it?

Speeding
Several years ago a committee on road safety  was set up. I';m tols it's leader was caught speeding in the Rye. There was discussion about speed control in which speed bumps were talked about. It transpired that people on the High Street didn't want them . To noisy by all accounts
As for the speed indicatore they were and are a waste ot time. Why aren't they working?? Camera's are what is really needed , one at each end of the village It is noticeable that several of those who speed through the village are villagers. I often see a mobile camera in the surrounding area , have yet to see one in Eaton Bray. Until we see a higher police presence or speed camera's erected , I'm afraid speeding will only get worse, both the A.A. and I.A.M predict this rise. If the AA and motoring organisations  succeed in having the speed limit raised from 50 to 60 on all rural roads, we can expect that to happen leading to more speeders through the village!!!

As a resident in The Rye I am also very concerned with regard to the flagrent disregard of the speed limit of 30mph in The Rye . Motorist who ignor the speed limit in the High Street swing into the Rye, alrady at a speed far in excess of 30 mph meaning that by the time they reach the houses their speed is in excess of 50 mph. For many years there were no small children living in The Rye, now there are 3 families with young children in the first 3 houses. This situation is a tradegy waiting to happen. My concerns have been reported to the Police, however no action has taken place, Additionally there is a complete lack of compliance with the village weight limit of 7.5 tonnes for goods vehicles, as since the new Spur road from the A 505 was opened Heavy Goods Vehicle use The Rye as a 'rat run' to Dunstable
