As with last years challenge I am raising funds for IRHH through donations / sponsorships / pledges as we have self-funded my trip. Basically any and all funds raised go to IRHH - you will not therefore be funding my "holiday". As of 1.2.2011 the total received by IRHH upon completing my Iceland trek was an amazing £2,559.36 Enough to provide 17 days of specialist patient care, so thank you to anyone that helped or donated :) I shall as previously post updates here and in Focus, just-giving page www.justgiving.com/janetickell, Gift Aid info can be found at justgiving.zendesk.com/entries/429124-about-gift-aid Thanks jane

First major training weekend is only 10 weekends away. I am revisiting Snowdon (last years attempt in March was severely limited by the weather) We are all 3 of us booked to trek Peru, though sadly not all on the same trip. It would be great to at least getting the totaliser nudging towards £3k before I go. Anyone got any novel fundraising ideas? thanks jane :)

Well those 10 weeks simply flew by ... and with only another 10 till Peru it's great to be able to tell you that Snowdon (Horseshoe)was completed in glorious sunshine on Saturday. With a 4 hour circular climb/hike on Sunday means my legs are slightly stiff today but that training is paying off :)

Another fortnight has now gone by... 8 weeks today and I shall be on my way! Training locally is great for the hills etc. I leave my front door and within minutes have warmed up enough for the hills of the Knolls, Downs and the Beacon. We have a growing no. of circular routes of varying length and difficulty if anyone is interested...? I have also returned to aquarobics with a vengeance, the only time music and movement seem to synchronise for me without me feeling totally foot-tied. Next week is the Carnival so pls visit the IRHH stall to offer your support, thank you

Check this out for local knowledge www.eatonbray.com/history/sportsdrome/ created in memory of my late father Bob Palmer. All donations gratefully received via www.justgiving.com/janetickell towards IRHH. thank you.

I have opted for the additional climb of Huayna Picchu - the one often seen in the background above Machu Picchu... unfortunately this means leaving the hotel at 2am, which having camped for the 3 nights previously shall be incredibly difficult. Only 200 people a day are permitted to climb so I shall feel very pleased once achieved and to then explore Machu Picchu later that morning too! Does anyone have one of those video cameras that straps to your hat/head/glasses for loan? thanks jane

As time draws near I have had several ideas for further fundraising - some have not been received well by the children let alone Bernie... So I have now decided to dye my hair purple on Mon 15th August in honour of IRHH (as orange was soon vetoed by the Emily!)

I shall sport my new hair until my return from Peru on the 28th, and have "I did it for charity" t-shirt to wear and stickers ready to hand out :)so if you see me locally be prepared...

I have set up a JustTextGiving by Vodafone account too, so it's even easier to help me support this great cause. Sponsor me by texting AIZV86 £(your chosen amount) to 70070 Texts are free, you get the opportunity to add Gift Aid and Iain Rennie get 100% of all donations - I've tried it out and used up my "free credit" on my mobile this month rather than lose it :) - very savvy, thank you

As with last years challenge we have self-funded my trip. Basically any and all funds raised go to IRHH - you will not therefore be funding my "holiday". (The distinctive peak of Huayna Picchu soars above the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru - googling this is an eye opener!)

I shall as previously continue to post updates on http://www.eatonbray.com/forums/general/irhh-trek-to-machu-picchu-aug-2011/ and in the local Focus magazine

Iain Rennie Hospice at Home (Reg.No. 297847) gave my lovely Dad the much needed practical, nursing and emotional support he and all the family found invaluable in the last few weeks of his illness in 2006.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Iain Rennie Hospice At Home gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

ps GI jane a no-go (horrified family have sponsored me to not do it) which is a win win for me, so watch out for next update

Home again - Machu Picchu was all and more than I thought it would be, Huayna Picchu was way scarier than I'd thought but the greatest highlight of my trip was to see a Condor and to manage to video it's flypast :) The whole trip was an amazing challenge physically and I share the achievement with some great new friends. The only downside to being home is the "bug" I have come down with... thanks for your support, jane
