Would appreciate any Varney baptisms, marriages and burials for the Varney family 1600-1800.
Many thanks

Hi Carol
The only Varney entry in Parish Records 1559-1812 is a marriage.
December 24th 1810 Varney Butcher of Fenny Stratford Bletchley Bucks to Catherine Varney of Eaton Bray.

Trying to work out where Catherine was born. In 1841 family is living in Tring and she is not born in county but by 1851 she has died.Think maybe we should be looking at Buckinghamshire for the Varney family from early on.

Carol,
If you will check the Eaton Bray Community Tree @ http://histfam.familysearch.org/search.php?mylastname=VARNEY&lnqualify=equals&mybool=AND&tree=EatonBay you will find 41 entries mostly post 1812, of which most are born Eaton Bray. I have one Varney on my tree born in Eaton Bray, the mother of a distant relative-in-law. Sarah Varney dau of Caroline Varney, single woman baptized 29 Mar 1835 EB. She married Thomas Philpott of Totternhoe in Totternhoe in 1855 and had two children, both of whom had families. Let me know if you want more detail.
By the way is your Emes actually Eames from Stanbridge, Luton, Dunstable or Sundon? I have some info on these families.

Ah, I now see that you were interested in 1800 and earlier. There are some of those in the Eaton Bray Tree.

Hi
Thanks to all replies regarding Varney family of Eaton Bray.
I will take a look at the Eaton Bray Tree. I have some Varneys from Edlesborough, some I can't find and thought maybe they crossed over to EB.
Sorry for taking so long to answer but I couldn't find the link to this site, I will now put in 'favourites' For Charlotte, my Emes are from Shoreditch, London
Many thanks

William Varney was my 7 x great grandfather.
He married Sarah Stevens in 1656 in Edlesborough.
I have found records for possibly 4 sons, 2 of which might have died in infancy:
Wm ch.1657
John ch.1659
Wm ch.1661
John ch.1664
John (the latter, I assume) married Ann/Anna Varney in 1680s in Edlesborough.
I believe they lived in Northall.
Siblings might be:
Anna ch.1685
Maria ch 1687
Wm ch.1688
John ch.1689 (m. Abigail Purcell)
Elizabeth ch 1691
Let me know ([email protected]) if you are related

Looking back at my 2016 posting, I think I made a mistake in saying “John (the latter, I assume) married Ann/Anna Varney in 1680s in Edlesborough
I believe they lived in Northall”.
My earliest Varney is William ch. 16/12/1632 in Edlesborough and married Sarah Stevens in 1656 in Edlesborough.
Their offspring:
Wm ch.1657 (died in infancy?)
John ch.1659 (died in infancy?)
Wm ch.1661
John ch.1664
Sarah ch.1666
I believe 1664 John Varney married Mary Stanwell from Leverington (Cambs) around 1685 in Edlesborough.
Their offspring were:
Ann/Anna ch.1685
Maria ch.1687
Wm ch.1688
John ch.1689 (m. Abigail Purcell)
Elizabeth ch 1691
Ann/Anna was baptised in Edlesborough in 19 Dec 1685 and she is my 5X Great Grandmother married to Thomas Costin/Caustin in Edlesborough in 1706 (his 2nd of 3 marriages). I believe they lived in the hamlet of Northall.
The surname Varney was first found in Buckinghamshire, following the great wave of migration after the Norman Conquest of 1066 when they arrived from Vernai, a parish in Bayeaux in Normandy.
