I have traced my family back to a woman called Alice Hide who was born in 1680. Her parents are recorded as being Thomas Hide and Elizabeth Stanton. They married in 1669 at Eaton Bray. However, Thomas's birthplace seems to be Marbury in Cheshire. Could this be accurate? Or is it a mix up between two different men of the same name?

Sorry Mark but the marriage you have found in 1669 is EATON SOCON which is near Bedford and not Eaton Bray....We do have a few Hide records but weather they belong to your family or not I dont know....Marriages...Sept 1st 1590 Mr Nicholas Hyde to Mrs Bridget Sandys...Oct 20th 1687 John Jenkins to Mary Hide...Sept 29th 1798 John Snoxell-wdr to Ann Hide both of Eaton Bray...Banns...March 25th 1810 Jeremiah Stanbridge of Eaton Bray to Ann Hide of Edlesborough.

Mark...Been searching for your family. The only Alice 1680 I can find local is one born in Tilsworth but on the IGI it reads parents unavailable. Is this your Alice? There is also a marriage in nearby Linslade to a Joseph Tearle in 1701.

Thank you so much for your help. My Alice Hide did marry Joseph Tearle in 1701. The Cheshire Thomas Hide is probably not the right one!!! I will check with the archive at Bedford, too, as you suggest!
Thank you once again,
Mark

Hello Mark,
Has far as Iam aware, Thomas Hide is Alice Hides father and he was indeed from Norton. Did you manage to go back on Thomas Hide becuase I think there may have been a name change here to Hyde.. do you know any more than me?

Hello Samantha,
According to research done at Bedford County records, Alice Hide's parents aren't known at present. She married in 1701 at Linslade to a man called Joseph Tearle.
