Hi. John Dudley b Eaton Bray about 1725 and Jane Holland b Eaton Bray about 1731 were my greatx5 grandparents.
I am interested to know if there are any more records going back further than this.
I am especially interested in a family legend that we are related to the prominent tudor Dudley family. It is interesting that the Dudley family had a very close relationship with Sir Reginald Bray (1440-1503) whose family gave their name to the village that was previously just "Eaton".

Ginger Family
My Great Grandfather was George GINGER who was born in Ivinghoe on 25th September 1850.
I am conducting a extensive survey of the GINGER family in Ivinghoe and it's surrounding villages. I have purchased a CD and various listings from the Buckinghamshire Family History Society which have proved to be of great value.
On FindMyPast I have come across one baptism entry with which I seek some advice. It covers an entry for 6 children all baptised on 7th February 1827 in a Wesleyan Chapel which I think was situated in Eaton Bray. The children were born to John and Susan GINGER and were named Mary (Born 19.09.1814), John (03.08.1816), Elizabeth (31.10.1818), Ruth (20.11.1820), Ann (25.10.1822) and Emma (26.03.1824)
I think Susan was in fact Susan PIKESLEY who married John GINGER in Eaton Bray on 25.11.1813. If so their family was extended with 3 other children Sarah Anstee (born 07.08.1831), Charles Pikesley (born 28.03.1833) and Orphah (born 05.09.1836). There is a gap of 7 years between Emma and Sarah which makes me feel a little apprehensive with my findings.
Were there any other children born to John and Susan(na) between 1924 and 1831?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

PS: Some censuses show the name of " Past House Lane, Edlesborough". Is this correct or should it read Post House Lane?

I have found details for Jane Holland born 1731 at Eaton Bray but nothing for John Dudley I'm afraid.
Jane Holland bapt Eaton Bray 1831 to Thomas and Martha Holland, a labourer.
They also had children:
1718 Thomas
1723 Martha
1727 Katherine
Thomas was buried at Eaton Bray in 1748
Martha was buried at Eaton Bray in 1770
I cannot find a marriage for Thomas and Martha at Eaton Bray - may be at Edlesborough. There is also no baptism for a Thomas Holland at Eaton Bray.
Cannot find a baptism for John Dudley - could have been born in Bucks? - Edlesborough perhaps?
Best wishes Nicky

Hi! I am a descendant of Samuel Whitney, who's great (x many) uncle Geoffrey wrote a book of emblems and dedicated it to his 'kinsman' Robert Dudley- the one that was close to Elizabeth I.
I can help by offering the information I've gained from my dads male big Y DNA that links back to Samuel and also the Eatons. That is actually how I found this post. It shows that our line of Whitney is supposed to have a common ancestor with the Eatons around the year 1341.
Our Whitney branch in the USA doesn't genetically link to the other large Whitney group in the USA that wrote books etc about linking to the Uk Whitney. Also, no one has ever successfully researched our Whitney line extensively.
The only information I can find from the 1300s where a man would have been born that might have grandfathered both of the de Whitney and de Eaton lines is in Herefordshire, 1303 with a "Sir Eustace de Whitney, is named in the rolls from 1303-5, and Baldwyn de Whitney, possibly his son, in 1341. Little is known about them. Eustace was of some local importance, as he was knight of the shire in 1312 (another Sir Eustace de Whitney again represented Herefs in 1352, but may not have been the same person), but in 1312 he possessed only three manors, Pencombe, neighbouring Cowarne and Whitney, close to Hay on Wye."
Around the same time Sir Eustace shows up, there is a boy that was minor, and ward to a "Peter", that came of age as the lord of Eaton Bray (son of William) around 1305.
And I have cross checked, but it appears William de Roos II was also found in records to have the holdings of these lands.
If anyone can help connect these three people, as my great (times many) grandpa is in there somewhere.
That might help answer the Dudley question too! Because I have yet to make that connection.... unless he was the younger son, John Sutton (sp?) of the children of William de Roos II?
To further complex this- our Samuel listed 2 Seymour men in his will as 'kinsman' in 1674. I didn't think the Dudley's liked the Seymours so how can they both be kinsmen?
If I didn't see the sources themselves, I would think that someone was playing a joke on me.
Any help is appreciated!
xx Jennifer Whitney
