Ginger Family

Ginger Family

My Great Grandfather was George GINGER who was born in Ivinghoe on 25th September 1850.

I am conducting a extensive survey of the GINGER family in Ivinghoe and it's surrounding villages. I have purchased a CD and various listings from the Buckinghamshire Family History Society which have proved to be of great value.

On FindMyPast I have come across one baptism entry with which I seek some advice. It covers  an entry for 6 children all baptised on 7th February 1827 in a Wesleyan Chapel which I think was situated in Eaton Bray. The children were born to John and Susan GINGER and were named Mary (Born 19.09.1814), John (03.08.1816), Elizabeth (31.10.1818), Ruth (20.11.1820), Ann (25.10.1822) and Emma (26.03.1824)

I think Susan was in fact Susan PIKESLEY who married John GINGER in Eaton Bray on 25.11.1813. If so their family was extended with 3 other children Sarah Anstee (born 07.08.1831), Charles Pikesley (born 28.03.1833) and Orphah (born 05.09.1836). There is a gap of 7 years between Emma and Sarah which makes me feel a little apprehensive with my findings.

Were there any other children born to John and Susan(na) between 1924 and 1831?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

John Sisley

PS: Some censuses show the name of " Past House Lane, Edlesborough". Is this correct or should it read Post House Lane?

I have looked at the records and you are quite right there are the six children baptised at Eaton Bray Methodist Chapel on 7th February, 1827 (it gives their birth dates).   John and Susan Ginger were living at Edlesborough.
The next 3 children are all baptised at Edlesborough Parish Church as you have stated.   As far as I can see there are no other children being baptised between 1824-1831.  I would say that it is the same couple especially as they gave their son Charles his mother's maiden name - always very handy when tracking down ancestors!!!
Best wishes    Nicky
