I think Ruth who is in the 1871 census as Georges daughter was his step daughter and was born to Matilda before they married.In 1861 Matilda is living at home with her father Joseph and brothers & sisters.The last entry on the 1861 census is for a Ruth Goodman who is grand daughter to the head Joseph....Ruth Goodman birth reg Leighton Buzzard June 1856 3b 407...Age looks right through all census.

Cant find them in 1901 but did a free search on 1911 census and they are still in Islington living together....Possible deaths...George Duncombe reg Islington Dec 1915 1b 224 age 79 years...Matilda Duncombe reg Edmonton March 1923 3a 653 age 85 years.
