Born 1866, Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire. Father Richard Dyer. 1844 - 1901 Mother Phillis ? 1842 - ???? Siblings Frederick 1886, Alice 1871, Samuel 1878, Ada 1879.  Eliza had a daughter Ethel May Dyer born 23rd Aug 1886 - 1952. I am trying to find out who Ethel May Dyers father was, if that is possible. Or if possible whom Eliza Ann Dyer was working for in 1885 as a live in domestic servant. Any information on the above is appreciated.  Not sure of Phillis's maiden name.  Thanks in advance for any help given.

Found an Ethel born & living in Dunstable on 1891 census....Address 17 Church Walk Dunstable...Lizran Dyer , Head , Single , 36 , Straw Plaiter , Eaton Bray Beds...Ethel Dyer , Daughter , 5 , Dunstable Beds...Nellie Dyer , Daughter , 3 , Dunstable Beds...Looked at the original image and Lizran could be Eliza and as she is single could be hard to find Ethels father....Did Ethel have a sister called Nellie.

Thank you for the information to date.

I believe that in 1891 Eliza would only of been either 27 possibly 29.
Did not know of any other siblings of Ethel, however one of Ethel's daughters was called Ivy Nellie. So Eliza could have had another child and no one actually knew.  The only information I was told is the possible father of Ethel, was the head of the household Eliza was working for and apparently he was German, but unsure if any is correct.

Looked on Ancestry and found a few trees with Eliza in but they have her death in 1918 & I cant find a record....But ,Birth on free BMD..reg Leighton Buzzard June 1865 3b 441...Family search...Eliza Ann Dyer born June 11th 1865 Christened April 1st 1870 Eaton Bray Beds Parents Richard Dyer & Phillis...Marriage to Alfred Frederick Turpin reg Luton June 1896 3b 926...On 1901 census cant find eliza but Ethel is living with Phillis as granddaughter still with the name Dyer. Nellie is with Alfred with more siblings and her name is Turpin....Found a death for Eliza Ann Turpin reg Luton March 1901 age 36 3b 261.......Did you find Elizas occupation on Ethels birth cert? If you did and there was no fathers name we wont find any other record.

Only piece of paper my father had was saying of Ethels birth mother Eliza aged 23 Luton. Nothing else and all now have passed on, so no one to ask.  I want to thank you so much for your information. Turpin is not a name I had heard of, so possibly it is just that Eliza passed away young and Ethel was never really told any information regarding her birth, father etc, is interesting that she would call one of her daughters Nellie.  Again thank you.

Another question!!

Would anyone know what the area of Manor Path, Castle Street, Luton, Bedfordshire like during the period of 1850 to 1920.  Was trying to find a map of bedfordshire that indicated the areas of housing, as in poverty, middle class etc, but have been unable to find anything.

I also noted since Tom n Harry supplied me with the information that Eliza Ann Dyer married Alfred Turpin, that there was a John Turpin linked to the Brinklow's in 1731.  That would also of been around the time of the infamous Richard "Dick" Turpin???.

Also noting that Peter Pieraccini, whom married Ethel May Dyer, died also in 1916 in France alongside a Brinklow and they were both of Castle Street, signing up around the same time.

Seems I have a lot to research.

Found a record for Peter on Ancestry....Enlisted & joined 5th Beds Regiment in September 1915 but was given a medical discharge in 1915. Reason given was "Chronic Granular Eye Lids".Address given was 4 Manchester Place Dunstable.Wife Ethel May & children Peter,Victor,Joe,Robert,Ethel & Ivy.His Military number was 4323 and age at enlistment was 28 years 1 month, height 5 feet 8 inches.....Must have joined up again later but dont know when...Found his Medal Card and he holds the British & Victory medals but not the 1914-15 Star so may not have managed to join up again until maybe after 1915.He is down as being a Sargent in the Beds Regiment,Number was 19744...Have also seen his death recorded on Ancestry & CWGC as being 12th October 1916 France & Flanders...
