Hi. I remember staying with a family in the early 70s at Rye farm, and was wondering if anyone knew them or the history of the farm. Thanks. I think their surname was Norman.

Rye Farm part of the Park Farm Estate which was owned by the Huxley Family until 1877 when after 3 years of poor harvests was sold to Arthur Macnamarra and Pedley Estates.
Macnamarra was the Squire of Billington and owned a vast portion of Bedfordshire. He died in 1906 in Brighton and the estate was declared bankrupt due to his gracious living.
Sometime after 1906 but before 1911 Rye Farm was purchased by Jeffrey Sharratt of Yew Tree Farm and worked by one of his sons.

Sorry got my time a bit wrong.
The 1915 catalogue sale for Pedley Estates shows Rye Farm as a Homestead brick building of 104 acres 3 rods 3 polls which had been let to Jeffrey Sharratt for £110 per annum.
There is a Mr Sharratt in the 1911 census book which proves he had been letting from Pedley for at least 6 years.
Jeffrey Sharratt purchased Rye Farm for the sum of £2000 in 1915.

Thanks thats more than i hoped for. I wonder when the Normans brought/rented the farm? I have found out it was Mr Richard Norman and his wife Edna.

Does anyone remember the Normans or know if the farm is still there? Any information will be appreciated.
