	Lord's Mead - 1999 Lord's Mead, 1999. Formerly Howes Motors, home of Jeep UK. In the 1890's it was a brickworks. The old kiln stood where the Happy Valley chip shop/take-away is now.		Jabez Thorne Jabez Thorne, later Thorne & Son was situated in Eaton Bray High Street opposite the old school for most of the century. They were always noted for the quality of their meats, especially their eggs and poultry in the later years. The bill shown here dated 1922 for 6/1½p (31p) would have fed a family for a week.
