Public Open Forum
A resident commented favourably on the improvements made to the Parish Council website; with the inclusion of the Parish Council monthly meeting agenda.
Visit From Chairman Of South Bedfordshire District Council
The Parish Council welcomed the Chair of South Bedfordshire District Council to their meeting. She explained her interested in Parish Councils, having previously been a Parish Councillor herself and understanding what that role involves and is very interested in rural areas; fully understanding how Parish Councils can feel isolated from the larger Councils.
Correspondence Received
A letter was read out to the Parish Council from the Family and Staff at Eaton Bray Post Office who have sadly been informed that Eaton Bray Post Office is to close. They wished to thank the Parish Council for their support and help in trying to prevent the closure and throughout the public consultation. They also wished to thank all the customers who have used the Post Office over the years, and the support received in the campaign to prevent the closure. They are sorry for the inconvenience the closure of the post office will cause, but it is totally out of their hands. The Post Office offered a vital service to the community and they are looking into ways of providing alternative services in the shop that may be of help to the community.
Eaton Bray Village Hall
The Parish Council was informed that Phase 3 of the Village Hall refurbishment has been completed and the Village Hall Committee is very pleased with the final result. Comments have been received on the refurbishment; on how good the hall looks. The flowerbeds outside the hall are in the process of being tidied up.
Parish Council Annual Return/Audit; Year Ending 31st March 2008
The clerk distributed the completed annual return/audit for the year ending 31st March 2008. It was unanimously agreed to approve and accept the final audit.
Next Council Meeting
Monday 3rd November 2008, 7.30pm, in the Coffee Tavern.
The Clerk requests items for the next Agenda by Wednesday 22nd October 2008.
