Private Frederick Ruffett 201515 Bedfordshire Regiment
Frederick was born at The Green in Northall Buckinghamshire in 1889 to father Lewis Ruffett an Agricultural Labourer also of Northall and Elizabeth nee Tompkins from Edlesborough.
By 1901 the family had moved to Station Road in Eaton Bray where Lewis was now looking after horses and Frederick was working on the land possibley for Richard Gadsden who was a small farmer who also ran the Labour in Vain pub next door to the Ruffetts.
It is thought that Frederick enlisted in Luton in about 1916 and joined the Bedfordshire Regiment and after training was sent to France.
Frederick fought in the Battle of the Somme in 1916 and the Battle of Arras in 1917. On 24th March 1918 he was killed in action at the Somme Crossings.
